Learning is to Understand. Understanding is to know.
This simple practice can keep or put your child ahead of homework assignments and provide the time needed for your child/student to understand the lesson(s) and score his or her best on tests/exams. (1) Request your child's entire semester or an entire month of classwork assignments ahead of time from their school. (2) Work on each lesson with your child (children.) Make sure that your child understands the material completely. (3) Have fun, be creative and let your child ask the questions to you often. You may wonder why I suggest that you request your child's classwork assignments early. You may think to yourself that you don't have the time because of your work schedule or for other personal reasons and you may think, "Hey, I'll just let the school system do its job, after all, the school system is better equipped for this type of thing." If you find yourself entertaining these thoughts, just remember, YOU ARE THE FIRST AND TRUE TEACHER. I created and did a video talk on this very topic just a few years ago.
